75+ Years of Materials Innovation

Since 1944, The Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE ®) has been in the middle of the invention and application of advanced composite materials. SAMPE has served as the place where people go together to discuss their inventions, report on them to their peers and receive feedback. It is also the place where plans are developed and deals are done to advance composites from an idea in an Air Force study to a multibillion-dollar industry. SAMPE’s 75+ years highlights some of the individuals that were key to SAMPE and the composites industry, the technologies that made advanced composites happen and the key applications of advanced composites.
