Dear SAMPE Colleague:
A School District in your geographic area could benefit by a visit from the MIT Women’s Initiative Program (MIT WIP)!
The SAMPE Foundation is sponsoring the MIT Women’s Initiative Program (MIT WIP) again for the January 2011 period. There is no cost to your school district or SAMPE chapter.
The MIT WIP offers the opportunity for a team of two MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) female students to visit a selected school district over the course of a week in January 2011 to make presentations to a female audience of middle school (6th – 8th grade) & high school (9th -12th grade) students about education & careers in science, math & engineering.
The 2010 MIT WIP Program, sponsored by the SAMPE Foundation, included over 500 middle school ( 6th – 8th grade) and high school (9th -12th grade) students learning first hand about careers in math, science and engineering. The school districts visited in 2010 are eager for a repeat visit by MIT WIP in 2011 – the opportunity is open to your local school district also!
A school district in a geographic area must be the applicant to MIT WIP and submit an application to participate in the MIT WIP. Applications are due in September-October 2010 and can be found at http://web.mit.edu/wi/schools/.
All that is required is that a school district submit an application, including the coordination of the MIT WIP student’s schedule of visits to that district’s middle schools and high schools arranging visit dates / times, administrative details and locations for their presentations with recommendations for travel and hotel in the geographic area. A contact person / coordinator from the local school district is required.
The SAMPE Foundation is pleased to provide this opportunity to your local school district! Please consider taking advantage of this opportunity!
For additional information and details, feel free to contact me on behalf of the SAMPE Foundation.
Sincerely,
THE SAMPE FOUNDATION
